Baby books: Gymboree A to Z Activities for Babies
These flash cards are fun to play with.
Flash cards for babies are kind of silly, I’ve always thought. I have little desire for C to read before it is age-appropriate, or even to know his ABCs. All in good time: Soon enough he’ll be in school, so why drill him earlier than needed? However, these flash cards by Gymboree have come in handy, less for the ABCs and the activities on the back of each flash card, and more for the fun of having a ton of cards to throw all over the floor and play with. C likes to move them around with his little hands, like Mah Jong tiles. He is one-quarter Chinese, you know.

What Cillian did yesterday: Slept in his crib. Hallelujah! Took two long naps in it, and then even slept the night there too! He likes to hook his feet on the bars while he sleeps on his side, pretty cute.
Books for babies: Yummy Yucky by Leslie Patricelli
This is my favourite book!
Of all of Cillian’s rather formidable library, for a seven-month old, this is his favourite book. I bought it when I was about six months pregnant, I just couldn’t resist. It was too cute!
Sample text: “Mommy’s cookies are yummy.” (picture of cute baby eating cookie)
“Mommy’s coffee is yucky” (picture of same cute baby spitting out a mouthful of coffee)
This is one of the few books of his where he’ll pay attention to the different pages, and reach out his little fingers to scratch at the illustrated baby.

What Cillian did yesterday: I can’t remember because he was up every two hours last night, being restless and kicking us. Oh yeah, I remember…he finally decided he likes the Exersaucer we borrowed from S and Zach. He likes the bug bead, which he flips around with his fingers, and the sunflower thingy which he likes to chew on.
